Despite the highly favorable prognosis, mortality occurs in nearly 2% of patients with cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT), in which decompressive craniectomy (DC) may be the only way to save the patient's life. The aim of this report is to describe the risk factors, neuroimaging features, in-hospital complications and functional outcome of severe CVT in patients treated with DC.
Consecutive malignant CVT cases treated with DC from a retrospective third-level hospital database were analyzed. Tanespimycin cost Demographic, clinical, and functional outcomes were analyzed.
Twenty-six patients were included (20 female, age 35.4±12.1 years); 53.8% of the patients had acute CVT, with neurological focalization as the most common symptom in 92.3% of the patients. Imaging on admission showed a parenchymal lesion (venous infarction±hemorrhagic lesion)>6cm measured along the longest diameter in 25 patients (96.2%). Mean duration of clinical neurological deterioration was 3.5 days; eleven patients (42.3%) died during hospitalization.

Health care workers are at higher risk of acquiring the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection. This study aims to understand the seroprevalence of anti-SARS-CoV-2 IgG antibody among the eye care workers in South India.
The participants included eye care workers from the nine eye care centres. All the participants were interviewed with a questionnaire to obtain essential information about socio-demographics, past contact with COVID-19 patients and additional information as recommended by Indian Council of Medical Research, India. Serum samples were tested for anti-SARS-CoV-2 IgG antibodies by ELISA.
A total of 1313 workers were included and 207 (15.8%) were positive for the SARS-CoV-2 IgG antibody. The seropositivity was higher in the moderate risk group (19.5%) followed by low (18.6%) and high risk (13.7%) groups. The seropositivity was significantly higher among i) day scholars compared to hostellers (OR - 2.22, 1.56 to 3.15, P​<​0.0001), ii) individuals with history of flu-like illness (4.57, 3.08-6.78, P​<​0.001) or who were symptomatic or in contact with COVID 19 positive cases (2.2, 1.02-4.75, P - 0.043) and iii) individuals with history of systemic illness (2.11, 1.39-3.21, P​<​0.001). Individuals (11.97%) who had no history of contact or any illness were also seropositive.

Thumb osteoarthritis (OA) is a common and disabling condition. Adherence to prescribed conservative interventions may affect outcomes of thumb OA trials.
The aim of the study was to determine whether baseline pain and hand function is associated with treatment adherence over 12 weeks in participants with thumb base OA.
Observational cohort study nested within a randomized-controlled trial.
Ninety-four participants from the intervention group were included in the analysis. Baseline pain and function were assessed using a 100 mm Visual Analogue Scale and the Functional Index for Hand Osteoarthritis questionnaire (0-30), respectively. Participants received a combination of treatments including education, orthosis, hand exercises, and topical anti-inflammatory gel. Adherence was measured using a daily self-reported diary. Participants were classified as non-adherent, partially adherent or fully adherent if they completed none, 1 and/or 2 or all 3 of the interventions as prescribed. Ordinal logistic regression modelling was performed.
At 12-week follow-up, half of the participants were fully adherent to the treatments (n=46, 48.9%), 30.9% of participants were partially adherent (n=29) and 20.2% were non-adherent (n=19, 20.2%). High baseline pain was a significantly associated with better adherence in the unadjusted model [OR=3.15, 95% CI (1.18, 8.42)] and adjusted model [OR=3.20, 95% CI (1.13, 8.20)]. Baseline function was not associated with adherence [OR=1.03, 95% CI (0.47, 2.23)].

To investigate the effect of electromyography (EMG)-driven robotic therapy on the recovery of the hand in a stroke case lasting 9 years.
An 18-year-old patient with hemiparesis due to the ischemic lesion was admitted to our clinic with hand impairment. Fifteen sessions (5 weeks x 3 times) of robotic rehabilitation were applied with the Hand of Hope. Average EMG (mV) of flexor digitorum superficialis (FDS) muscle, average force (N) and the rate of force development (RFD)(N/s) were also assessed before and after the treatment following the 5th and 10th sessions and at the end of treatment. Also, Fugl-Meyer Assessment of Upper Extremity Scale (FMU-UE), Motor Activity Log (MAL), Canadian Occupational Performance Score (COPM) and Visual Analog Scale (VAS) were used for assessment before and after the treatment.
The average EMG measured from FDS increased from 0.093-0.133 mV. The average force and average RFD increased from 45.6-97.7 and from 135.6-172.6 respectively. While affected and/or unaffected side force ratio increased dramatically from 54%-82%, the FMA-UE score increased from 56-59.
